BATHORY – icon and pioneer of Black Metal, trailblazer of Viking Metal! Few other bands have influenced the metal scene as profoundly as this one-man project by Thomas “Quorthon” Forsberg, who sadly passed away far too early in 2004. Without ever performing live even once, he nonetheless succeeded in creating not just one, but two entire musical genres.

The early, raw, and uncompromising self-produced releases marked the beginning of what would later be known as Black Metal. In the years that followed, the sound continued to evolve—becoming more epic and atmospheric, increasingly shaped by Norse mythology, historical themes, and heavy, hymn-like arrangements. This musical journey, from archaic Black Metal to the monumental and epic works of the later years, makes Bathory a unique chapter in the history of metal.

It is precisely this diversity that Blood Fire Death have taken as their mission. The band does not focus on just a single era, but celebrates Bathory’s entire body of work in all its facets. With dense keyboard layers, acoustic passages, choral elements, and the necessary heaviness, they bring both the early and later compositions to life—always with the utmost respect for the original.

An Evening with Bathory” is therefore not merely a retrospective of one particular era, but a musical journey through the legacy of an artist whose influence can still be felt today.
